To work in Canada as a foreign national, a work permit is required. There are two types:

  • Open Work Permit
  • Employer-Specific Work Permit

Regardless of the type chosen, specific instructions must be followed:

  1. Demonstrate intent to leave Canada upon permit expiry.
  2. Financially support yourself and your family during your stay.
  3. Maintain a clean criminal record; provide police clearance if required.
  4. Be in good health; provide a medical report if necessary.
  5. Avoid working for non-compliant employers under TFWP or IMP.
  6. Do not pose a security threat to Canada.
